This study presents a new tool, developed to observe, to code and analyse 2 vs 2 in the attack in handball. It has been built a mixed system of field format with categories systems and software Hoisan was used to watch the games in order to test the reliability of the system. It was applied a survey to a group of handball experts that allowed to construct and validate the instrument of observation from the point of view of content and construct. The tool optimization included the quality data control, using the analysis of intra and inter observer reliability by Cohen’s Kappa index, beyond the application of generalizability analysis. We conclude that as the Kappa indexes obtained range between 0.85 and 1 and G indices are suitable for all models estimated, the instrument is reliable, revealing fit for use in the study of 2 vs 2 in attack in handball.
