Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to analyze the scientific researches on Sport Psychology in Brazil, Spain and journals published in English. The sample was composed by 440 national abstracts, 125 Spanish articles and 521 published in English. The analyzed variables were: research topics, sample type and study method. It was done a descriptive statistics with the percentages of each item and chi-square to verify the existence of the statistical significant differences (p<0,05). In the foreigner countries, the majority of the researches were done with the competitive sport (57.23% and 54,83%, respectively), however in Brazil the main interest relies on non-athletes (54.90%). The most found studies types in both environment (national and international) are the descriptive ones. In Brazil, the most studied topics are Anxiety (20.96%) and Motivation (20.27%). In Spain and in journals published in English, Motivation is the most found topic (17.21% and 15.74% respectively). It can be concluded that in Brazilian studies there is a predominance of situation descriptions and observations. In the foreign countries, there is a balance between study types. It is observed that experimental intervention and instruments development in Brazil are far from other countries. It is verified the necessity of researches that clarifies the existing differences between Brazilian researchers and the international ones.
