Félix Guillén GarcÃÂÂÂa y Dante Nieri Romero
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between self-esteem and competitiveness in elite surfers. Study participants were members of a selection of Peruvian surfing youth (n = 11) prior to their participation in a world championship. Questionnaire were administered the Competitiveness Remor-10 (2007) and the Coopersmith Self-esteem Questionnaire (1967). The results showed some correlations between competitiveness and motivation to succeed and to avoid failure, as well as the various subdimensions of self-esteem.
