This study required examining the relationship between the substantive content of the information provided by the coach and the tasks of training, in teams of young volleyball players. Twenty-eight coaches’ of Porto Volleyball Association of teams of trainers participated in this study. It followed a validation of content, ensuring the adaptation of tools to the problems under study. Concerning the type of practice, the information on defence and coverage and about setting was significantly superior in structuration tasks (p=0,001 and p=0,004, respectively) and adaptation tasks (p=0,005 and p=0,006, respectively). In the instructional tasks, the information on defence and coverage and about setting was also significantly superior in the application tasks (p=0,006 and p=0,007, respectively). Contrarily, the information centred in the service was significantly superior in low complexity tasks (information tasks) (p=0,009) reflecting absence in pedagogic progression. The information on the attack and block was used in an undifferentiated way in the training tasks. The results suggest that the substantive content of the information provided by the coach varies according to the nature of instructional tasks and the type of practice, indicating different instructional approaches on the teaching of the different subject contents in the youth training setting.
