when sport training loads exceed the adaptation capacity of the human body, performance may decreases and some other problems may occur, like overtraining. overtraining has become a significant problem among high level competitive athletes, affecting sport seasons and even resulting in the drop-out. Athletes who suffer from overtraining, present decrease in sport performance and may present some signals and symptoms of physiological and psychological nature. This study has the aim to analyze overtraining in an interdisciplinary view, presenting some psychological, physiological and biochemical variables used in its detection and monitoring. And finally, we also suggest strategies to prevent and treat this phenomenon.
