Every day we make decisions that influence how others perceive us, which can be interpreted in terms of motives of self-presentation. The objective of this work was to obtain psychometric data of adaptation in Spanish of the self-presentation in exercise questionnaire (SPEQ), based on statistical procedures such as the analysis of its factorial structure, internal consistency and convergence validity. Participants were 412 people with an average chronological age of 20.80 years (SD = 3.52), who answered the instrument. The results rejected the factorial structure with 19 items, as well as the composite structure of 11 and eight items. However, it confirmed the two-factor structure (impression motivation, impression construction) of a reconstruction of the questionnaire composed of eight items. This model confirmed the discriminant validity, the internal consistency of both factors and the convergent validity of the printing motivation. Greater review of the items and psychometric evaluation is needed to improve the instrument.
