EFFECTS OF A FAIR PLAY PROGRAM APPLIED TO YOUNG FOOTBALL PLAYERS TO IMPROVE SPORTSPERSONSHIP

The purpose of this study was to create an intervention program to improve the attitudes and behaviors towards the opponent and analyze its development. A quasi-experimental study with a six weeks intervention was implemented. A total of 87 players participaded (age of 11.12 years (± 0.67): experimental 44 and control 43. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to control group for: to apologize, to give the hand to the winner, to congratulate the opponent, toencourage the loser, to allow to play who arrives late and to worry about the injured player. There were no improvements in attitudes or behaviors whose consequences could affect the interests of the player. In the control group there was a significant loss of the orientations toward the sportsmanship.
