This study analyzed factorial structure, reliability and construct validity of two instruments, which were designed to measure peer motivational climate and dispositional goal orientations, in the Spanish physical-sport context. Exploratory factor analysis, analysis of internal consistency and simple correlations were calculated. A sample composed by 394 practitioners (156 women and 238 men) of collective and non competitive physical-sport activities, of ages 16 to 54 years, was used. The results showed an appropriate construct validity and reliability, as well as predictive validity. We found that task-involving motivational climate was positively related to task orientation and negatively related to ego-involving motivational climate and ego orientation. Ego-involving motivational climate was positively associated with ego orientation and negatively associated with task-involving motivational climate. More studies are necessary to corroborate these results with different populations and cultures.
