COMPETITIVE ANXIETY, COMPETITIVENESS AND VULNERABILITY TO SPORTS INJURY: RISK PROFILES

Analizes to what extent certain personality profiles are associated with the incidence of sports injuries. Presents a quantitative study of correlational descriptive, with 453 athletes (285 men and 168 women) practitioners of team sports and individual sports. Assessed the competitive anxiety and competitiveness, as well as the number and severity of sports injuries. The results suggest that athletes whose profiles have higher number of injuries are manifesting high motivation oriented success along with high motivation to avoid failure. In addition, injured athletes had lower competitive anxiety that the group not injured. Results are discussed.
